Work Experience:
As a practicing attorney, Lance has served for several years handling a wide variety of legal matters to include: personal injury, family law, criminal defense, collections, wills and estates, as well as the formation of business entities. Lance has served as an assistant district attorney handling and prosecuting felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile offenses in district and circuit courts. Lance continues to practice in many different jurisdictions throughout Central and Southeast Alabama within municipal, district, and circuit courts. Lance has been selected to serve as a contract indigent defense counsel assisting clients with individual legal issues. Lance has also served as a volunteer attorney for the "Wills for Heroes" campaign for first responders to include: police officers, firemen, and (E.M.T.) emergency medical technicians.
Before starting his own practice, Lance worked with firms in Auburn, Alabama, handling multiple criminal defense cases, construction and breach of contract cases, personal injury cases, as well as business transactions.
Lance also served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jacob A. Walker, III, Presiding Circuit Judge for the 37th Judicial Circuit in Lee County, Alabama. Lance’s many duties included: conducting extensive legal research, reviewing and analyzing pleadings and briefs, preparing orders and organizing civil and criminal dockets, and preparing jury instructions and verdict forms.
Law Enforcement Training
Before entering the practice of law, Lance acquired a vast amount of knowledge and experience in the field of law enforcement. Lance served with the Alabama Department of Public Safety for over 11 years, first as an Alabama State Trooper in the Highway Patrol Division and in the Alabama Attorney General’s Office, and finally as an Agent with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation.
While serving with A.B.I. for more than seven years, Lance was selected to serve as a Task Force Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration and worked in conjunction with multiple federal, state, and local agencies within the Southeast. Lance has been involved with numerous criminal and narcotics investigations to include:

As an Alabama State Trooper, Lance conducted numerous traffic accident investigations involving personal injuries and fatalities. Lance also conducted highway narcotics interdiction on Alabama’s state roads and interstates. Lance’s experience in law enforcement provided him with a thorough understanding of accident investigation, of Alabama’s traffic and D.U.I. laws, as well as the laws governing Search and Seizure as applied to the 4th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and current case law.
